Thalpe is a perfect gateway for your surf explorations of Sri lanka's South and West Coast. There are some excellent reef breaks close by. Most major surf spots on Sri Lanka's South Coast can be reached within half an hour.

UNESCO HERITAGE SITE GALLE FORT
Visit The UNESCO site of Galle Fort, a fort built by the Portuguese and Dutch during the colonial period.

The fort and the immediate surrounding area is a beautiful combination of religions and traditions - influenced by the wide variety of cultures of the different people who have lived there over the years, as well as those currently residing there. It has recently developed into a hotspot for shopping, cafes, restaurants and bars making it a quaint blend of old and modern.
KOGGALA STILT FISHERMEN
An old and remote fishing technique is used in the Southern province
of Sri Lanka that is a sight worth seeing.
The fishermen's poles are created so that the fishermen can sit on them to fish in deeper waters. It is recommended to go there around 5pm as it combines sunset, ocean and Sri Lankan tradition in to one beautiful experience.
